Neat Momentum SX7i speakers
Fabulous audiophile floorstanders, with iso-baric bass!

In terms of stunning bass reproduction, one of the most famed loudspeakers of all time was the Linn Isobarik of the 1980's. It arguably wasn't particularly accurate in the mid range, but boy could it handle low frequencies! That speaker has long since been discontinued, but the memory of its taut, rhythmic, start-stop bass lives on with audiophiles around the world. The Linn Isobarik got its name from a specific type of loading used on its bass driver - termed iso-baric loading. The principle is explained in detail if you click here, but the most important thing to take on board is that any speaker utilising this type of design seems to produce the sort of  fast, tuneful bass that makes all competitors sound hopelessly uncontrolled and boomy in comparison.

Neat's outstanding Momentum SX7i is one of the best examples of the iso-baric principle in a modern design, utilising two hidden 6.5 inch bass drivers firing out of the bottom of its cabinet. The result is a wonderfully free flowing, tight bass, which is complimented by an incredibly detailed and open mid-range, thanks to Neat's custom made forward firing 'Ultimatum' bass/midrange driver and SXT-A1 inverted anodised aluminium dome tweeter. The dispersion of frequencies between all four drivers is handled by ultra high quality hand made, hard wired cross-overs, featuring close-tolerance, high grade capacitors and chokes, custom made for Neat. The cabinets are heavy grade too, weighing in at 34kg apiece and featuring a range of stunning real wood veneers plus a clever magnetic grille assembly. Straight from the box, these speakers sparkle, seducing the listener with any type of music. They are easy to drive and work amazingly well in virtually any room configuration. They are quite simply sensational!
